Consultations and medicines
Herbal medicine is a gentle yet powerful healing practice with a long-standing history of reliability. With extensive herbal knowledge, rigorous clinical training and a compassionate approach, I am here to assist you on your journey to wellness. Whether you seek to address specific health concerns or to enhance your overall well-being, herbal medicine offers natural solutions that are both effective and tailored to your specific needs. Herbal medicine takes a holistic approach to healthcare where we aim to treat the whole person, considering both the physical and emotional factors contributing to a lack of balance within the body. Often we begin by providing symptomatic relief, and then continue our treatment tackling the underlying causes and conditions that can be perpetuating or worsening symptoms. Medical herbalists work across the age-range from birth, childhood, adolescence, adults and with the elderly.
What happens in a consultation?
The initial consultation will last between 60-75 minutes which will involve and in-depth investigation of your current, recent and past medical history. I will often undertake clinical examinations, where relevant, and utilise a range of tools for diagnosis and monitoring, e.g. blood pressure, blood glucose and uric acid tests.
At the end of the consultation a herbal prescription will be formulated which may include teas, tinctures, capsules, juices, supplements or topical treatments. Changes in diet and lifestyle are also often recommended to enable the restoration of balance to the body. A follow-up appointment will follow 3-4 weeks later to review progress. Consultations will be scheduled as appropriate to the patient needs going forward and prescriptions dispensed on a monthly basis.
Accessibility
While my preference is to meet patients face-to-face, at least for the initial consultation, I offer flexible access to consultations, with a range of clinic hours to suit. I can also offer follow-up consultations either online or by telephone.
My clinic is on the first floor up one flight of stairs so please contact the clinic to make alternative consultations if this is going to be problematic for you.
